Interesting, though I'd be more curious about the number of projects doing Naughty or Nice covers and their impact. I think a lot of us are tempted by this even though we aren't doing books with graphic interior art.
I thought it to be higher thought especially with Pat Shand having such success in that arena (as well fantasy and just other really good stuff) and stuff I see left and right.
I do offer a NSFW cover myself once in a while, but not always. Only if I wanna :0
My books themselves are geared to "general reading" and I have no intention to deviate from that.
I expected it to be higher, too, and that low percentage may have been a function of the overall thicker volume of projects at the time I surveyed the Comics category for that article, or it may have simply been coincidentally artificially low at that time. Those numbers were a slice of the category on a random day. I'm tracking all projects by genre starting in December, so that king of longitudinal data may offer a different perspective.
you sure are keen on researching this. What is your drive? Cause it feels like a lot of work so "time=money" or at least it means less time for other stuff...
That’s the truth, but I’ve learned a ton about the Kickstarter comics market, and there’s no other coverage of this type, at least not that I’m aware of.
well.. this sure is solid content and I love reading about it, so you must be doing it right!!
But... perhaps it is good to also add this content to another website looking for this kind of content? Cause this is too good to be "only" on here, where folks have to subscribe, no?
I appreciate the kind words. No subscription is necessary to read it, but it helps to be notified. Perhaps there'll be an opportunity to share it via another website sometime. Always open to opportunities.
Man, I would have to go back and count, LOL, but not much higher. Plus, those don't tend to feature the sexual/nude aspect on the cover image,, so they're difficult to tease out. It's just part of the story, not THE story in those cases.
What I’m driving at is roughly what percentage of tiddy covers in general? Maybe that’s what people find annoying if it’s half the campaigns that have racy cover variants.

well... happy to repost it on Comicsforsinners and my socials, but sadly no budget :) since it is a mere hobby,
But I would get in contact with perhaps Bleeding Cool?
What would the percentage be (roughly) if you did include the softcore ones?

All of those I saw were included in the lot that I reviewed. All projects I found with nudity+ on the cover are in the 17 projects referenced.
I don’t mean nudity. I mean tiddy covers like Dynamite always has.
