Another great post. I have had two comics successfully funded by Kickstarter campaigns (www.robinhoodcomicbook.com, by the way. #alwaysbeplugging), but I feel like if I tried again, I would be one of the ones lost in the shuffle among the comic pros and porn books. I honestly don't know how the little guys do it anymore, and I feel like that was the original point of Kickstarter. Things change, I guess.

What have you heard about Zoop? They have a program to manage/run/print your entire campaign... albeit their top tier program takes 22% of earnings. That said.... curious about your thoughts as I have content (first graphic novel is almost ready!), but not the audience ... so I'm plotting next steps. Thanks for your content... super informative!!!

Thanks for reading! I’m glad to offer any insights from my experience that might be helpful. I haven’t looked at Zoop in a while, so I need to visit the site and see what’s changed and how projects are faring there. My first pass many months ago didn’t fill me with confidence, but I’ll follow up. Definitely build that audience before launching. Gotta have a ready-made set of buyers before jumping in the deep end.

I have run a number of Kickstarter campaigns successfully since 2020, but my latest campaign ("lucky number 7) failed to fund. I did a relaunch and got the funding, but it just goes to show you that you have to stay on your game and evolve with the times if you want to keep up. Great observations here!

It's definitely a constant state of pivot for we self-publishers on Kickstarter. Glad to hear the relaunch funded!

Thanks for that. I've never crowdfunded before, but am planning to when all the pages are ready for my graphic novel project. I'm trying to gather as much info as possible so I can make wise decisions when I get there. Articles like this help.

This was a very informative newsletter update! KS is a different beast, for sure, and it serves very different functions in the landscape of comics.
